Army Principal Staff Officer Lt. General Walker said that the army will be deployed across the country from December 29 with the permission of the President ahead of the upcoming National Assembly elections. He also said that the army will be deployed till January 10.

The decision was taken at the meeting with the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday evening.

Walker said, ‘The Election Commission wants the armed forces to be corrupted. The EC will ask for permission to the President. He will be allowed. We reassured that the way EC will work as he wants. Serious to select EC acceptable. We will help in the free and fair elections. The army will also be called as the past. ‘However, there was no decision about whether the army would be given a judicial power. The decision will be decided later, the EC said.

The EC announced the schedule for the 12th Parliamentary elections on November 15 in opposition to BNP and their allianceists. According to the schedule, the vote will be held on January 7. BNP boycotted the schedule for elections. 15 teams including BNP are not participating in this election. On the other hand, 29 politicians including Awami Legislation Party are participating in the elections.
